Rules for taking good snapshots

So I read Dean Speir's rules for gunfighting and figured there should be one for snapping photos

• Have a Camera
  Preferably have at least two cameras
• Anything worth snapping is worth snapping twice. Stuff like film media and batteries are cheap, moments are irreplaceable
  Bring spare stuff
  Lots of it
• Only shots that "capture the moment" count.
• When in doubt, get closer.
• If you can choose what to use, use the best camera
• Nobody will remember the details of camera model, F-stop or shutter speed.  They will only see the result
• Shooting, moving and talking aren't mutually exclusive
• Use a camera that you can know how to use and can make work everytime.
• Have a plan
  Have a backup plan because the first one won't work.
• The faster you get the shot, the less likely you are to miss it when things change
• Watch their eyes
• Be polite, be professional,  But, have a plan to photograph everything that crosses your path.
• Be courteous to everyone, especially the dickheads, because you'll have 270 degree's plus, of blindspot when you're looking through that viewfinder.

• Nothing handheld is stable so stick your camera on a tripod or anything more unmoving than you.
